Message from the President
To the Class of 2025
Dear Students,
Welcome to Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU)! I’m delighted to congratulate you on joining our vibrant academic community. On behalf of the entire BNBU community, I extend to you a warm and heartfelt welcome.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of BNBU, a meaningful milestone that coincides with a new chapter in your own journey. Just as the university continues to grow and thrive, you, too, are stepping into a period of exploration, discovery, and personal transformation. We are honored that you have chosen to entrust your precious four years to BNBU, allowing your aspirations to flourish alongside the continued development of our university.
Over the past two decades, BNBU has forged a bold and innovative path, establishing a dynamic academic ecosystem dedicated to student growth and success. Our modern campus and world-class facilities provide a vibrant environment where talent thrives. We take pride in our achievements in research collaboration, academic development, and internationalization, all of which stand as a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.
As China’s first modern liberal arts university, BNBU fosters close interaction, mentorship, and collaboration between students and faculty. We have cultivated generations of open-minded, well-rounded individuals who actively contribute to public service, represent Chinese perspectives on the global stage, and engage in international cooperation to tackle shared challenges. Through cross-cultural exchange, they have developed both a global outlook and a strong sense of social responsibility.
Here, you will receive an education that blends the richness of Chinese culture with the diversity of global perspectives, offering you a deeper and more holistic understanding of our interconnected world. Now, a brand-new canvas of life unfolds before you, and its beauty will depend on how you choose to paint it.
As you embark on this journey, I would like to share three reflections on what college life can offer:
First, university is a formative place to discover who you are. Beyond acquiring academic knowledge, this is a time to shape your values, build character, and find a sense of purpose. Cultivate the spirit of “self-improvement and service to others,” not only to excel among your peers but also to become the best version of yourself. In today's turbulent world, many pressing challenges call for solutions that combine science, technology, and human well-being. I hope you will align your personal development with the broader currents of progress, striving to fulfil both your “small self” and your “great self.”
Second, university is a fertile ground for broadening your horizons. I hope you will maintain a curious and open mindset, with the courage to explore and grow alongside a changing world. BNBU is committed to creating a diverse educational environment that supports the development of practical skills and innovative thinking. I encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, embrace challenges, and pursue excellence with confidence and determination.
Third, university is a meaningful journey for expanding your global outlook. I hope you will maintain an open and inclusive mindset, embracing cultural diversity while remaining in your own heritage. BNBU is committed to fostering cross-cultural understanding and global engagement, helping you develop a deep awareness of both your homeland and the wider world. I invite you to learn through dialogue, grow through exchange, and build true confidence through continuous self-improvement and shared learning.
Dear students, the doors of BNBU are open wide, and ahead of you lies a world of opportunity. I look forward to witnessing the stories you will write, the passions you will pursue, and the impact you will make. We are here to support you every step of the way, and we can’t wait to see all that you will achieve.
Welcome once again to BNBU. I wish you a joyful, fruitful and meaningful journey.
Sincerely,
CHEN Zhi
